The smart rendering seems to be limited to a certain formats so may not work with 4K.
The good news is that you also get access to all of Adobe's graphics products (except the consumer targeted Elements versions).Īccording to what I could find, Premier Pro has no issues with 4K and does do some smart rendering. The bad news for amateurs is that you have to commit to $50 a month, every month to have accesses to it. I did some googling about Premier Pro CC. On a Premier Elements 12 forum it was stated that footage from an AX100 was supported in version 12. I've not tested it, nor am I sure which flavors of 4K work. The current version 12 specifically states 4K is supported. I tried one of Ken's clips in Premier Elements 11 and it seemed to work. This AX100 4K video was edited using Power Director 12: Obviously the quality is higher than output from the above programs too as it does not re-compress, as long as you just merge and clip (transitions are ok too).Įditing is no different for 4K than for HD in any of these editors, just slower renders (if no smart rendering) and may be more difficult to play within the editor unless you lower the viewing resolution. The edited output video is thus no bigger than the input files and the rendering is much faster than the above editors. Cannot output video from GH4 4K files at all and incompletely smart renders AX100 files and chokes on some clips.Ĥ. As easy to use as above plus more features and faster (64-bit).ģ.
Same as above - no smart render and no 4K render bitrate less than 100 Mbps. Makes the video files bigger than the native files (which are 50-60 Mbps from the AX100 and Galaxy and 70-80Mbps from the GH4). But it does not smart render, and you must use 100+ Mbps XAVC S to render out 4K video. Sony Movie Studio Platinum 13, which is free to purchasers of the AX100, edits 4K clips from the GH4 or AX100 or the Samsung Galaxy S 5 easily.
